![]() AutoCAD MEPThis is one of the many different softwares that I used during my internship. While I did have some previous experience with AutoCAD my freshman year, my skills were "rusty" to say the least. I did however end up finding the perfect phrase to describe my relationship with MEP which was that of a love-hate relationship: I hated MEP and it loved to give me reasons to hate it. | ![]() CAD SpacingInstead of just randomly placing lines down for piping, I learned that a uniform design is more ideal. As one of my first assignments, I was responsible for completing the cold and hot water pipe lines and spaces them out uniformly. | ![]() Closer Look at Pipe Spacing |

![]() Full CAD Floor PlanThis is an example of one of the many floor plans that I completely set up with duct work, unit spacing, flow counts, as well as cold and hot water pipe lines. | ![]() CAD Floor PlanWhen floor plans are printed out, they are spread across a four by four square on each floor, I was responsible for lining these up along reference lines and ensuring that each piece was labeled and spaced correctly. | ![]() CFM to GPMAs one of the hardest things that I had to complete during my internship, converting CFM (cubic feet per minute) to GPM (gallons per minute) proved to be one of my most cherished successes and the thing I was happiest to be done with. |
![]() My Work DeskFor my first time using double screens, I feel like I was fairly successful. I was fortunate enough to have my own work space and even my own domain in the company's network. | ![]() Floor PlansOn each floor and layout of the floor plans, I was responsible for following the duct work back to the supply unit and adding up the airflow count from each line of duct and displaying the total amount of airflow necessary to be supplied through the unit to meet the requirements. | ![]() Duct ZoneI learned how to follow duct work and then section or zone each supply unit along the correct ducts and rooms. |
